Crew Chiefs and Mechanics info needed

If your relative was with the 612th, 613th, 614th or 615th Bomb Squadron and served as mechanics on any of the aircraft we need you information. We want to make sure these heroes are also mentioned on our web site. Pictures of them their aircraft they serviced and serial numbers. Pictures of the time and any narrative during the time they were at Deenethorpe.

Don, As you know my Dad was ground crew chief on the Heavenly Body, and I am working on his information and the snapshots that were in his photo album so that I can bring copies to the reunion. I was wondering, do you or anyone else know if the names of some of the ground crews were ever put on the side of the planes like some of the air crews did? Since they were with the plane for a longer time than the air crews were it sort of makes sense. I have seen something in a couple of his snapshots that make me think that perhaps they did. What are your thoughts on it?

Thanks,
Jean

Jean,

I can only say that is very possible and most likely depended on the Ground Crew. Sorry I can't give a better answer. Maybe Paul will jump in and post a reply for you.
